Shipping Chartering Specialist

The professional will be responsible for managing and optimizing the company's global maritime logistics contracts and performance for bulk iron ore shipments, including ship chartering, freight negotiation, and voyage execution, ensuring efficient performance, commercial integrity, and legal compliance in all charter contracts for strategic markets, in line with commercial and operational objectives.

Key challenges:

• Lead the negotiation and contracting of maritime freight services (bulk carriers) on global routes, with a specific focus on major transoceanic routes (C2, C3 indices, etc.) and high-traffic routes (Americas, Europe, Middle East, North Africa, and Asia).
• Negotiate and conclude freight contracts (COA, spot, time charter, voyage charter) with shipowners or brokers.
• Perform detailed analyses and assessments for freight quotes and market trends (market intelligence).
• Develop optimization models to improve cost efficiency and simplify the end-to-end logistics chain.
• Support the commercial strategy with freight analyses and comparisons, as well as budget forecasting.
• Prepare charter proposals: Ensure that all proposals are built on a solid commercial basis and the necessary legal structure.
• Draft and review contracts: Develop and negotiate comprehensive charter contracts, safeguarding the company's interests in all contractual agreements.
• Prepare relevant documentation: Manage and process all relevant shipping documentation quickly and accurately.
• Monitor and analyze the performance and timeliness of contracted freight services (shipping KPIs).
• Effectively resolve and manage operational issues (delays, demurrage/dispatch, weather impacts, etc.) in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to align cargo availability and vessel schedules.
• Build and maintain a sophisticated freight intelligence system to anticipate cost variations, risks, and new opportunities in global shipping routes.
• Provide executive-level information on the global bulk carrier market to support strategic sales and production decisions.
• Monitor market indices, fuel trends, and developments in global shipping.

Job requirements:

Education: Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, or related fields.

Previous experience in shipping and/or ship chartering, preferably with dry bulk cargoes (e.g., iron ore, coal, or grain).

Experience working with brokers, agents, and global clients.

Experience interfacing with senior leadership and executive management.

Proven negotiation and analytical skills, with solid knowledge of freight economics.

Willingness to reside outside Brazil (mandatory), in line with the company's operational and strategic needs.

Willingness to reside in the Netherlands.
